A 14-year-old boy has been accused of stealing food from delivery riders’ delivery bags in the Woodlands area.
But that’s not all — the boy has allegedly ridden these delivery riders’ e-bikes away multiple times as well.
14-Year-Old Allegedly Steals Food From Delivery Riders’ Delivery Bags
Delivery riders in Woodlands have recently encountered a new problem — having to protect their e-bikes and the food in their delivery bags from a teenager in the area.
Huh? Why?
According to Shin Min Daily News, a 14-year-old boy has been seen multiple times stealing food from the unattended delivery bags of delivery riders.
44-year-old delivery rider Zheng Jinyao (hanyu pinyin) shared that in the past month, the boy would be seen several times a day in the area surrounding Causeway Point and the Woodlands MRT station.
Another delivery rider surnamed Xu shared an encounter that his friend had with the 14-year-old, where the 14-year-old was seen opening an unattended delivery bag and taking the food inside.
Recess time, perhaps…
Xu also added that he had once seen the 14-year-old with a special needs card.
14-Year-Old Allegedly Rode At Least 6 Delivery Riders’ E-Bikes Away
But that’s not all that the 14-year-old has been accused of. Zheng shared that the boy would ride delivery riders’ e-bikes away as well.
According to Zheng, he knows of at least six other delivery riders who have had their e-bikes ridden away by the 14-year-old. Fortunately, these six delivery riders managed to recover their e-bikes.
Well, I guess even the e-bikes aren’t fast enough for the boy to get away before being spotted by the delivery riders.
Next time, need to ride Ferrari away already.
Zheng also added that the 14-year-old had also once stolen another delivery rider’s foldable bicycle. Fortunately, the delivery rider also managed to recover the foldable bicycle after lodging a police report.
How Delivery Riders in Woodlands Have Responded
While this piece of news may be new to us, it seems that the 14-year-old boy is already notorious among the delivery riders frequently working in the Woodlands area.
According to Zheng, delivery riders in the Woodlands area would now take photos of the boy whenever they saw him, and would warn each other to keep an extra lookout for the boy.
“After receiving the warnings, I would also rush to the area to help other delivery riders keep an eye on their belongings,” Zheng added.
Apparently, delivery riders in the area have also started putting locks on their e-bikes to ensure their e-bikes won’t be ridden away by the boy.
However, as for the delivery bags, the solution is much less straightforward lah. The delivery bags provided by delivery platforms cannot be locked, and if delivery riders would like to lock the bags, they’ll have to purchase an external lock on their own.
Next time, need to ride around with customers’ food in a safe already.
