Alssa, described as a cheerful and well-loved individual, had recently obtained her new passport and had wanted to visit her mother and stepfather in Genting Highlands via a motorcycle.

Her stepfather, surnamed Xu, shared that he advised against the long journey on a motorcycle, citing the six-hour, 400-km ride from Singapore to Genting.

He and his wife had arrived in Genting for a trip earlier.

However, Alssa was determined to surprise her mother.

Accompanied by her 23-year-old boyfriend, Alssa departed for Genting on 9 December and arrived at around 1 am the following day.

The family spent a brief but joyful four hours together before the young couple embarked on their return journey at 5 am, as her boyfriend had a morning meeting in Singapore.

The Fatal Crash and Aftermath

While traveling back, the motorcycle collided with a guardrail near Kulai, Johor.

The crash killed Alssa, who was the pillion passenger and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her boyfriend sustained leg injuries and was rushed to Temenggong Seri Maharaja Tun Ibrahim Hospital in Kulai before being transferred to Singapore for further treatment.

At Alssa’s wake, her boyfriend, visibly injured and in a wheelchair, attended to pay his respects and apologise to her family.

The emotional gathering saw a motorcycle placed near the hall, possibly as a tribute to Alssa’s final journey.

Alssa, the only child of her mother and stepfather, had recently graduated from Kaplan Singapore with a degree in business studies and was looking for a job.

Her stepfather described her as a sociable and lively young woman who cherished her relationships with friends and family.

Her body is set to be cremated at Mandai Crematorium on 14 December 2024.
