3 Men With Knife & Bleach Spray Bottle Harass Orchard Plaza Porridge Stall Staff

A recently-opened porridge stall in Orchard Plaza didn’t receive the warmest welcome.

Just one week after opening, they had to call the police to handle three men, one of whom was armed.

3 Men Allegedly Harass Orchard Plaza Porridge Stall Staff & Customers

Shin Min Daily News reported that the incident took place at 8 am on 27 July.

Three men approached the stall supervisor, Ms Hong (transliterated), and demanded to know the whereabouts of an employee from the earlier morning shift.

According to her, the men claimed the employee had beaten up one of them and demanded medical fees.

After checking with her staff, Ms Hong found out that two of the men had caused a ruckus at the stall at 6 am that day.

They were allegedly bothering two female customers at the porridge stall, with the women’s friends telling them to leave. The two groups did not know each other.

They reportedly looked like they had drunk alcohol, but appeared to still be sober enough.

After this, the shift supervisor requested they leave. They did so, but not without angrily cussing at the staff member.

When they returned at 8 am, they didn’t come empty-handed.

One of them was armed with a cooking pan and what appeared to be a bleach spray bottle.

In the photos, that man could also visibly be seen with a knife through the back pocket of his jeans, positioned in a way that looked very easy for him to accidentally stab himself.

Frightened for her and her employees’ safety, Ms Hong quickly called the police.

The men were also seen entering the staff area of the Orchard Plaza porridge stall on video, asking for the morning supervisor’s whereabouts. At some point, the knife fell out of the man’s pocket.

One man used rude remarks and Ms Hong reportedly demanded he apologise.

It turned out that a bleach spray bottle was no match for the police, who arrested all three men when they arrived at the scene.

The police stated that a 25-year-old man was arrested for possession of an offensive weapon.

The other two, 18 and 21-year-old men, got arrested for being in the company of someone in possession of a weapon.

Police investigations are ongoing.

While Singapore is usually safe, there are occasional serious knife attacks, including one that injured seven people in Queenstown this year.
