6 Miss Hong Kong Contestants Withdraw From Pageant As They Didn’t Want To Sign TVB’s “Strict” Contract

The 52nd Miss Hong Kong Pageant is currently underway, with its 46 contestants meeting with the press earlier this week (July 2) for a second preliminary interview session.

However, it seems like this year’s pageant has hit a snag way before the finals in September.

Six contestants have reportedly bowed out of the race as they do not want to sign contracts with TVB.

The six include hot faves Huang Yan, Caroline, and Christina Zhao. Safe to say, the news came as a shock to many.

The group was seen gathering for a meal, with a few taking to social media to announce their withdrawal.

One contestant, Jackie, wrote: “I’ve qualified for the Miss Hong Kong Pageant 2024, but I’ve dropped out.”

Replying to a netizen who was curious for the reason, she added: “I didn’t want to sign the contract.”

Caroline wrote: “2024 Miss Hong Kong what? There were contestants being chased out of TVB?”

“I’m just kidding… I’ve given the contract serious consideration, and I’ve decided to drop out of the pageant. I’m really thankful for the support I’ve received during this period of time. I’m happy to have gotten to know so many beautiful and outstanding women during the course of this competition. I’ll continue to work hard!” she continued.

Caroline later admitted in a comment that she “did not dare to sign the contract”.

Huang Yan also said she had dropped out due to “TVB’s strict contract”.

“I was already prepared to be given the contract, but I did not expect [the terms] to be so strict,” she wrote.

Wonder if TVB will be doing some damage control now?
