The dimly lit European diner is housed in an old bungalow with a small yard on Xuhui district’s tree-lined Changle Road, popular for its bars and boutiques. The cosy interior – its walls covered in murals and artworks – makes for a perfect date night. It is mostly popular among younger couples and locals who come after work.

Dishes worth trying include beef Wellington (388 yuan/US$53), beef tartare (98 yuan), truffle-sautéed mushroom with soft-boiled egg (68 yuan), and roast chicken (128 yuan). It also has an extensive wine selection.

Average cost per person: 200 to 250 yuan
