When a singer makes a comeback after a really long time, the reception from the audience can sway both ways.

One can either blow minds with how they’re still so incredible, or get slammed for being a shadow of their former selves.

’90s Chinese–American singer Shunza’s performance at the 35th Golden Melody Awards, unfortunately, fell under the second category.

The now 51-year-old, who faded out of showbiz 10 years ago, was the final performer at the annual music awards ceremony, which was held at the Taipei Arena on Saturday (Jun 29).

She had flown back to Taiwan from France to perform her iconic 1997 hit ’Go Home’.

While everyone was looking forward to the trip down memory lane, Shunza’s performance that night, sadly, didn’t please netizens.

Many criticised her for singing too softly, with some also saying her voice isn’t as powerful now.

“I was looking forward to Shunza’s performance but it ended up like a major disaster. She sounded terrible. I actually thought it was some random person singing KTV,” said one disappointed netizen.

Some fans, thankfully, enjoyed the nostalgia.

“Her voice hasn’t changed. I cried the moment I heard it,” gushed one netizen.
