Daniel Wu’s Track Star Nephew Breaks Records… And Steals Hearts With His Good Looks

You know that feeling when you look at two physically blessed people who are related and think: “Good looks do run in a family”.

That’s how we felt when we saw American-Chinese star Daniel Wu and his nephew, Hong Kong long-distance runner Sean Fontaine.

Recently, the 49-year-old actor took to Instagram to give a shout out to his record-breaking relative.

Sharing a photo of Sean with his medal and a clip of the race, Daniel said he was “so stoked” for the former, who broke the Hong Kong Games records for the 800m and 1500m races.

“We need him to represent Hong Kong in [the] Asian Games and Olympics!” wrote Daniel.

Sean also shared about his win on his own Instagram, thanking his mother, aka Daniel’s older sister, for her support.

Daniel has two older sisters, Greta and Gloria, and an older brother who passed away when he was two. However, it’s not revealed which sister is the mother of Sean.

“Thank you to the best mother for spending Mother’s Day in the rain at the Wan Chai Sports Ground and taking such great photos,” Sean wrote.

Though Sean, who is of mixed heritage, doesn’t resemble Daniel, it’s safe to say that the good looks do run in the family.

It’s also said that Sean, who has been a runner since middle school, takes after his uncle’s love for sports. He went to university in the US and represented his school at competitions.

After returning to Hong Kong in 2022, Sean, who worked as a computing teacher for a brief period in the States, continued to pursue his running dreams.

He went on to bag gold medals for the 800m race at the Hong Kong Athletics Championships and Hong Kong Athletics Series last year.

In an interview, Sean also revealed that he’s really close to his family, which includes Daniel, who went down to support him for one of the races.
