M’sian Teacher Surprised With New TV By Student Who Scored Straight As In Exams

We’ve heard of teachers giving rewards to students when they score good grades but the other way round? Not so much.

Malaysian teacher Muhammad Husni Abu Hassan was recently surprised with a brand new TV as a token of appreciation by one of his students.

The student had scored straight As at the recent SPM examinations, which is equivalent to the O-Levels in Singapore.

In a video that Husni, aka Izzhuznie on TikTok, shared on May 29, a group of students can be seen surprising him with the gift at his home.

Husni is said to be very well-liked by his students, often opening his home to them to study and even allowing them to spend the night.

According to Malaysia media reports, in addition to showing his appreciation, the student also wanted to gift Husni a TV as his old set, which had been in use for at least a decade, was faulty.

The heartwarming clip has garnered more than 522,000 views, with netizens flooding the comments with praise for Husni’s students and how he must have made a huge impact in their lives.

One netizen cheekily wondered: “You wrote that you wanted a TV in your wishlist?”

Another jokingly asked if the student bought the gift so he can go to the teacher’s house to play video games behind his parents’ back.

With his straight As, we think his parents wouldn’t mind the extra screen time.

This isn’t the first time Husni has been recognised for his role as an educator. In 2019, he was one of the nominees for McDonald Malaysia’s Inspirational Teacher Award.
