In March, Mediacorp actress Chantalle Ng announced that she would treat five of her fans to lunch if she manages to win a spot on the Top 10 Most Popular Female Artiste list at the Star Awards.
According to an Instagram post shared by her fan club, Chantalle’s Club, all fans had to do to stand a chance to have lunch with her was to send a screen recording of them voting.
The videos, which were to be sent via Telegram, had to show the entire voting process starting from the email login page on meconnect.
Fans were allowed to send in video entries every day and their total number of votes were manually tabulated, according to Chantalle’s manager. The five fans who sent in the most votes would be the winners.
Now, almost two months later, Chantalle, who made it to the Top 10, has fulfilled her promise.
Yesterday (Jun 12), she took the five dedicated fans to her new favourite restaurant, Open Farm Community (OFC), for a lunch date.
When 8days.sg reached out to Chantalle, she says that she chose OFC because she had fallen in love with the place after discovering it a few months back.
“The food’s very good and there’s a farm next to the restaurant where they grow their own vegetables and herbs. I really like the vibe and concept of the restaurant so I decided I’d like to bring my fans there,” she explains.
Her fans got to pick their own set meals, which included an appetiser, a main course and a dessert.
Chantalle says she really enjoyed interacting with her fans in a smaller group.
“I actually prefer gatherings like that because it’s more intimate and I get to have proper conversations with them,” she says.
She also took the opportunity to update them about her upcoming projects, such as Mediacorp drama Hope Afloat, in which she plays a character modelled after Singapore Paralympic gold medallist Yip Pin Xiu.
She also took the time to share with them some insights into her life.
“I don’t usually get a chance like this so if they had any questions they would ask me. It’s a time when I can connect with them a little more,” she says, adding that she typically only gets to meet her fans at events, which can be “quite chaotic”.
“At the most, I would only be able to grab a photo with them or have a small conversation but today it was a lot more than that.”
Chantalle and her fans also made plans for their next gathering over lunch.
She says she initially thought of bringing her fans to the zoo.
“But I don’t know if all of them would be free for a whole day so we were thinking we could meet up and play board games, like Werewolf or Imposter. That would be very fun,” she shares, adding that she’s already sourcing for a location for their next meet-up.
