Sometimes, it’s really astonishing how absurd some people can be.
Recently, a landlord in the Malaysian town of Bangi, named Maziahtul Zawani Munshi, took to Facebook to expose her tenant for attempting to sell her furniture online.
In the screenshots she shared, the tenant had been advertising several items from Maziahtul’s house — such as a sofa, single bed, vanity table, lamp, cushions and more — as her own on a Facebook page for secondhand items.
In one listing for a sofa, the tenant wrote: “Self pickup only, transport to be arranged by buyer. Slight negotiation for serious buyers.”
According to the posts, the tenant claimed she needed to sell the furniture as she was about to move houses and was in urgent need of cash. Prices ranged from RM150 to RM300 (S$43.13 to S$86.27).
When Maziahtul found out about the listings, she quickly warned netizens not to make any purchases from her tenant.
“These are all my belongings. The tenant is trying to sell them. Do not buy!” she urged.
She also asked those who had already purchased items to contact her immediately.
Maziahtul has since made a police report but that has done little to deter the tenant, who according to a netizen, has listed the furniture for sale in another Facebook group.
But that’s not the worst part.
Turns out, several netizens had already fallen prey to the tenant’s scam, with some taking to the comments section to air their grievances.
According to some, the tenant had lied about having rooms available for rent in Maziahtul’s house.
The ironic part? Maziahtul revealed that the tenant had not even been paying her own monthly rent.
