Trump Injured After Being Shot at During Rally; a Spectator Reportedly Died From Incident

Moments ago, on Saturday, 13 July 2024 (14 July morning in Singapore), multiple shots rang out at a Donald Trump campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.. Video footage showed Trump grimacing and raising his right hand to his right ear as the shots were fired.

He was then quickly surrounded by Secret Service agents who shielded him as he ducked below the podium.

The shots seemed to come from the bleachers to the left of the stage where Trump was speaking. After a brief pause, Trump was rushed off stage by Secret Service and evacuated from the venue. Officials shouted for the crowd to duck and cover.

In videos that have circulated online, Trump appeared to be injured, with blood visible on his right ear and the right side of his face.

When he was being carried off by Secret Service agents, he put a fist up before he was escorted off the stage.

A Trump spokesperson later confirmed he was “fine and is being checked out at a local medical facility”. The Secret Service said Trump was safe and an active investigation was underway.

Trump has since made an update on social media, saying on Truth Social that the bullet pierced the upper part of his right ear.

I want to thank The United States Secret Service, and all of Law Enforcement, for their rapid response on the shooting that just took place in Butler, Pennsylvania. Most importantly, I want to extend my condolences to the family of the person at the Rally who was killed, and also to the family of another person that was badly injured. It is incredible that such an act can take place in our Country. Nothing is known at this time about the shooter, who is now dead. I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear. I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin. Much bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening. GOD BLESS AMERICA!

What Happened After Trump Shooting

The rally site was later declared a crime scene.

Currently, the venue is now abandoned with chairs knocked over and yellow police tape around the stage. A helicopter is also seen flying above and law enforcement officers walking through the area. With armed law enforcement officers on a roof near the stage where Trump was standing.

One spectator and the suspected shooter were both confirmed dead after the incident.

As for the spectator , ABC News cited District Attorney of Butler County PA Richard A. Goldinger as saying the spectator may also have been hit.

Law enforcement sources told the Associated Press the shooting is being investigated as an assassination attempt on the former president.

President Joe Biden called the shooting “sick” and said, “We cannot be like this. We cannot condone this.” The White House said Biden had received an initial briefing about the incident.

Form President Barack Obama weighed in, saying that there “is absolutely no place for political violence in our democracy.”

The shooting occurred as Trump, the frontrunner for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, was preparing for the upcoming Republican National Convention that kicks off on Monday, and getting ready to announce his vice-presidential pick.
