Xiang Yun & Edmund Chen Once Had An Argument At Work, Forgot They Were Mic-ed Up, And The Sound Man Heard Everything

Even the sweetest couples will have disagreements, and Xiang Yun and Edmund Chen are no exception.

In a recent video shared on The Celebrity Agency’s Instagram, the 62-year-old actress looked back on her relationship with husband Edmund Chen, 63, while giving love advice to her Bonnie Loo.

Bonnie first asked Xiang Yun what type of guy she would choose to spend the rest of her life with had she not met Edmund.

“Honestly, after going through everything in life, I feel that marriage isn’t necessarily a good thing,” she laughed. “Please don’t be influenced by me though,” she said to Bonnie, who’s single.

Xiang Yun went on to explain that it’s truly important to find someone whom you’re sure you can do life with.

“After being married for 35 years, I look back and conclude that Edmund really is not bad,” she beamed.

When Bonnie gushed that Edmund is “very handsome”, Xiang Yun replied that she didn’t pay too much attention to his looks when she decided to marry him.

“I just thought this guy was adorable because he’s very playful and I always watch him make people laugh,” she recalled.

“Eventually we got together and the only thing that came to my mind was that I would be happy forever if I married him,” Xiang Yun chirped.

That said, it’s not always sunshine and rainbows for the couple and they’ve had their fair share of conflicts too.

“I remember one time, when Edmund and I were filming [2004 Mediacorp long-form drama] Double Happiness, we argued all the way from home to on set,” she said.

They were filming at a void deck and the director had gone up to set up the lights for the scene while she and Edmund, who played her younger brother in the show, waited downstairs.

“It was pitch black and there was a microphone there. We started arguing and [thought] no one knew, but the soundman heard us [through the receiver] and ran off,” she chuckled.

Xiang Yun then warned: “If you’re in a relationship with someone in the industry, please be careful if you’re wearing a mic.”
