Andie Chen, Kate Pang Back In Singapore From Taiwan To Let Their Kids Try Out Primary School For 1 Month

Former Mediacorp stars Andie Chen, 39, and Kate Pang, 41, have finally returned to Singapore after calling Taipei home for the past four years.

The pair tied the knot in 2013, and have two kids, Aden, 10, and Avery, eight. The family moved to Taiwan, where Kate is from, in 2020 so Andie could be closer to job opportunities.

Two days ago (July 15), Andie and Kate took to Instagram to share that they’re back in town, and their kids have already started to attend a primary school in Clementi. Aden is in primary four, and Avery primary two.

“We’re back!” wrote Kate on IG. “We rushed to bring our kids back to cosy Singapore before National Day, and we’ve planned many gatherings with our family.”

The couple received many welcome messages from their celeb pals and followers, with Andie mentioning in a comment that their current plan is only to be back for the summer.

In an interview with Asiaone, Kate revealed she and Andie had planned for this return “about a year ago”. She shared that both kids will only be “experiencing” primary school here for a month.

Andie is an alum of the primary school Aden and Avery are in and the couple had enrolled Aden into it before their move to Taiwan. They have been paying the school fees every year.

Kate and Andie don’t have plans for Aden and Avery study in Singapore permanently, with Kate adding that their priority is still Andie’s career. They want the family to remain together, and “are prepared to return whenever there is a need to”.

The kids attend an experimental school in Taiwan, which focuses on educating children through weekly outdoor excursions and learn via real-life situations. However, Aden and Avery look to be adjusting well to the Singapore primary school system so far.

Reflecting on her little one’s first day in school, Kate shared: “[I] was initially worried that the kids wouldn’t be used to attending school here. But Avery said school “was so fun!” when she returned home after the first day. Not only did Aden make many good friends, he was also well-taken care of, with classmates helping him take down notes, and treating him to snacks.”

“We’re thankful for the love they’ve gotten from teachers and classmates, and also thankful to grandma for waking up early to help them with preparing everything. In the midst of everything, [she also] brought the kids to eat the chicken hor fun they were longing for. This pair of siblings are really blessed!” she continued.

We can’t wait to see what is in store for the family now that they’re back, and if they will extend their stay past summer. Summer break in Taiwan typically lasts till end August.
