S’porean Kid, 3, Plays Violin Like A Pro On Grandpa’s Birthday; Impresses The Internet

A recent video posted by TikTok user Lai Yi Xuan (@violinyixuan) proves that some people are just blessed with talent at a super young age.

The clip showcases Yi Xuan’s three-year-old son Tomi playing a pitch-perfect rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’ on the violin for his grandfather. The video has gone viral with over 106K views.

Many netizens, including us, were not only touched by what they saw but were also left in awe of Tomi’s musical talent.

One netizen dubbed him a “future violin master”, while others gushed over how “talented” and “cute” the boy is.

Speaking to Malaysian media World Of Buzz, Yi Xuan, who has been a professional violinist for over 20 years, revealed Tomi has been playing the violin since he was two.

No surprises that she’s the one coaching Tomi in the instrument.

She also said Tomi practises the violin for 30 minutes to an hour every day, and has performed for family members on many occasions.

‘Happy Birthday’ is not the only song in his repertoire.

According to Yi Xuan, Tomi can play all the songs in violin music book Suzuki Book 1, and has almost completed Suzuki Book 2. He can now play “around 20 songs”, including Hunter’s Chorus and Bach’s Minuet 1. What’s even more impressive is that he is playing most of the tunes from memory.

It looks like Tomi is definitely well on his way to becoming a maestro, all while being an inspiration to other kids who wish to pick up the violin.
