Man Cares for 18 Kids During School Holidays, Spends .2K On Food Alone

55 days taking care of 18 kids. Would you take it up?

For a Chongqing native named Gong, he gladly did.

The 36-year-old posted to social media his experience, sharing that 16 of the children belonged to his four sisters while two are his own.

With the support of his wife, who he says thinks it’s warm to return home to a big family, decided to always have all his nephews and nieces stay together during the summer and winter school holidays.

In a video posted online, Gong explained that he worried the younger generation would end up distant from each other if he didn’t have all of them over when they could.

He was also seen taking attendance as they queued for food so he doesn’t miss out any of the little tykes.

In another video posted in 2022, Gong revealed his food costs can go up to 60K yuan (S$7.2K) each time the children come over. They are usually over for about 55 days.

The family devours about 16kg of rice, eight kilograms of meat, 20 eggs, and a variety of fruits and vegetables each day.

In a bid to help with his cost, one of Gong’s sisters once sent over a whopping 50kg of ribs, 40kg of beef, 40kg of pig’s feet, 50kg of rice, 60kg of oil, and 150kg of fruits.

During the brutal Chongqing summer, all five air conditioners are switched on throughout the day to keep the children cool.

Though it was not mentioned, we can only imagine their utility bill when the school holidays come around.

Netizens were amazed by what they saw, with many praising Gong’s love for his family.

One even commented, “Kids, don’t forget to look after your uncle and aunt when you grow up.”

Why not since there aren’t 18 of them, right?
