We’ve seen all sorts of different gender reveal celebrations, so leave it to Singapore influencer Grace Khoo, 24, better known as Grace Glazee to her 217K Instagram followers, to come up with a totally different and totally Singaporean way to announce the gender of her baby.
Grace, who is due in December, took to TikTok yesterday (Aug 4) to post a snippet of her gender reveal party at The Riverhouse restaurant in Clarke Quay.
Grace and her husband were both dressed in what looked to be Chinese New Year outfits. The decorations consisted of pink flowers and blue mosaic patterns, which are reminiscent of the prints found on fine Chinese porcelain.
In a five-minute YouTube vlog, Grace’s guests were asked to guess the gender of the baby, with a majority placing their bets on “Team Blue”, which in this case means boy.
The couple also hired a lion dance troupe that performed with a pink lion and blue‘lion.
The lions flanked the sides of a huge box that was draped with pink and blue curtains. After a few seconds of suspense, a smaller, blue lion emerged from behind the drapes, revealing that Grace, like her friends had guessed, is expecting a baby boy.
Cue happy cheers from the couple’s loved ones as blue confetti shot into the sky.
“We were so shocked,” wrote Grace, indicating that she and her husband were not privy to the gender of their baby prior to the reveal as well.
