S’porean Guy Sunburns SG Flag On His Chest To Win NDP Tickets

This National Day, local singer Benjamin Kheng, 33, will take the stage at the Padang to perform ‘Not Alone’, the theme song he penned for NDP 2024.

To celebrate the occasion, Ben took to Instagram earlier this week to announce a giveaway. The singer, who had five pairs of NDP tickets to give out, called for interested parties to “write a letter to Singapore in the comments”. He would then select the best answers from the crowd.

Instead of writing long messages or touching poems like others did in Ben’s comments, a Singaporean duo came up with a hilarious, sure-fire way to get Ben’s attention.

Singaporean-Irish video creator Michael Collins (@bigchunkks) and his pal Yihui (@__yihui) filmed a snappy, fun short clip expressing their love for the country.

“This video is for Ben Kheng. Ben is giving out NDP tickets, and we really want one,” announced Yihui at the start of the video.

Michael then jumped in to add: “‘Cos nobody loves Singapore more than us,”

To prove their patriotism, Michael placed cut-out stencils of the moon and stars on our flag on his chest so he could “sunburn” the design onto his skin.

Yihui, on the other hand, dyed his buzz cut “red and white” to perfectly match the Singapore flag.

The duo then stood in a park as they called for their viewers to “tag Benjamin Kheng in their post”, with Yihui adding with dramatic flair: “Ben, if you’re seeing this, please, help a brother out.”

The video definitely got the attention it deserved, including Ben Kheng’s.

“❌ STAND UP ✅ TAN UP FOR SINGAPORE,” wrote Ben in their comments.

Replying to Ben’s comment, Michael celebrated: “OMG WE DID IT BOISSSS. WE ARE HEADINGGG TO NDPPP!!!”

Ben’s giveaway has since ended, and if the adorable exchange in the comments is to be believed, it looks like Michael and Yihui are heading to the NDP tomorrow night.

There’s no doubt that this patriotic duo deserve their award, and we can’t wait to see if they’ll produce more content from their time at the parade.
