If you’re one of those brave souls who get a kick out of reading ghost stories, especially during the Hungry Ghost Month, you’ve come to the right place.
8days.sg called up some of our famous pals to get them to share their encounters with the supernatural.
First up is 987 DJ Germaine Tan.
According to the 28-year-old DJ, the incident happened sometime last year. She was waiting for the lift to go up to the 987 radio conti with her The Down Low co-host Avery Aloysius Yeo, 29, at around 7am.
“In Mediacorp, there are the lifts all the way at the end which goes down to the make-up units and up to the radio contis. There are only two lifts there, and we saw an old lady going into the lift as we were walking into the lift lobby,” she tells us over the phone.
Avery then told Germaine to wait for the next lift as they were headed up and that lift was going down.
However, when they pressed the button to go up, the same lift, which the lady walked into, opened.
“It was supposed to go down but it didn’t, and when the door opened, it was empty,” said Germaine.
The jocks still decided to enter the lift.
On their way up, Avery turned to Germaine and asked: “Um, is it just me, or did you see somebody enter this lift as well?”
Germaine said she immediately stared at Avery before replying: “Don’t say anything. Just keep quiet!”.
She did see the old lady too, but just didn’t say anything ‘cos she thought she saw wrong.
“There was nowhere [the lady] could have gone. The lift literally opened after five seconds without having gone anywhere,” she said.
Both Germaine and Avery then agreed not to discuss the incident and stayed silent even after they reached their radio conti.
“I’m pretty sure that it was a ghost that entered the lift,” says Germaine now as she recalls the incident.
While Germaine shares that she was only scared to take the lift for the first few weeks after encountering the ‘ghost’, she does feel especially fearful during the seventh lunar month, aka now.
Sometimes, she’d even ask Avery to accompany her to the toilet and make him wait outside while she goes to the loo.
