Just a week after Hong Kong actress Anita Chui called Malaysian ex-Mediacorp actress Tong Bing Yu out for allegedly deceiving her money, another individual has accused Bing Yu of owing wages.
According to Malaysian media China Press, an individual has been using a fake account to attack Bing Yu, 41, on the Malaysia Film & TV Industry Workers Facebook group, demanding that she “pay back the money”.
The person has also been spreading false information on Bing Yu’s socials as well as accounts of businesses she has worked with.
“Tong Bing Yu, pay back the money! How long are you going to drag this out? So despicable. How dare you make others work without paying them, and then delay their salaries? Do you have any conscience? Have you thought about the fact that these people have families to support? You are utterly inhumane,” wrote the person.
Bing Yu’s production company, Marvelous Culture & Film, ventured into film making this year and produced five major projects in 2024.
Two of the movies, Mom’s Big News and I Want To Be Rich, starring Hong Kong actors Anita Yuen and Louis Cheung respectively, are slated for release during Chinese New Year 2025.
Bing Yu said her accuser has been relentless, even leaving comments on the social media pages of her friends, leading many to call and ask her about the situation.
“Not only did this person affect my reputation but also seriously impacted the people around me, and I don’t even know who this person is. To me, this is very serious slander,” she lamented.
She clarified that the accusations are completely baseless and that there’s “absolutely no deception involved”.
“Many people who see these posts may think there are issues with the production of my Chinese New Year film. As I am representing the company, I must step forward to protect the company’s interests. I don’t want others to misunderstand,” she said.
Bing Yu added that if she indeed owed money, she urged her accuser to “bring evidence to [her] company and confront [her] directly”.
“I will take responsibility,” she assured.
Bing Yu’s lawyer also urged those who wish to make claims against the actress or her management company to seek formal legal channels or the assistance of legal counsel, and they will handle the claims accordingly.
