The first day of school can be tough for kids – and parents – with all the separation anxiety.
You would think things would get easier the next year.
Well, they don’t, at least not for Hong Kong actress Myolie Wu, 44, and her eldest son Brendan, seven.
Myolie and husband, businessman Philip Lee, have two younger sons, Ryan, five, and three-year-old Liam.
Earlier this week, Myolie took to Xiao Hong Shu to document Brendan’s first day in second grade.
In her video, Brendan, who attends Po Leung Kuk Choi Kai Yau School, a prestigious private institution known for its popularity among celebrity kids, is seen carrying a blue backpack and large tote bag, looking apprehensive as he bids goodbye.
As he makes his way up the stairs, he keeps turning back every few steps to wave to mum — turning back a total of 16 times.
There was one point he almost tripped, causing Myolie to call out: “Be careful, watch your step.”
In her post, Myolie shared Brendan was very reluctant to part and asked her followers if their kids are the same when school starts.
“I still remember last year, when I sent my son to primary school for the first time, he turned back nine times on that short walk. This time, I counted and found that Brendan turned back 16 times! It seems that the reluctance to part hasn’t decreased (actually, mummy is also very reluctant to let you go),” she wrote, before asking: “But will he not turn back next year?”
Don’t worry Myolie, there’s still Ryan and Liam.
