Japan’s leading life insurance company, Dai-ichi Life Insurance has advanced automation to optimise processes and address IT talent shortage.
Dai-ichi Life Insurance’s Eita Yoshidome, a Fellow in the IT Planning Department said, “Automating our on-premise environments is a key initiative to further accelerate our business in the future.”
It has been streamlining to improve its server environment using server virtualisation and hyper-converged infrastructure.
The company has been working on a hybrid cloud to meet diverse needs, and using multi-clouds to enhance digital and customer experience, while keeping crucial contract information managed on-premises.
Dai-ichi Life chose Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform as their automation configuration management tool that also allows the team to write processes using a YAML playbook, and meet IT infrastructure needs for highest levels of stability and uniformity.
The firm can use it not only for server setup tasks, but also for automating operational tasks, enabling several units to be handled simultaneously and eliminating the need for manual intervention in operations.
Automation Benefits
The automation has cut server setup time by more than 90 percent, making it possible for a single engineer to set up 60 times more servers. It has simplified complex and time-consuming application processes.
It has cut costs, allowing previously allocated setup budgets to be redirected to other IT investments.
Tadashi Fujita, team head at Dai-ichi Life Techno Cross Co (DLTX), which supports the Dai-ichi Life Group IT strategy said that conducting a company-wide software refresh, using Ansible Automation Platform has saved considerable amounts of labor.
“Using the platform for routine patch management enabled us to apply patches to a large number of servers simultaneously with benefits of time, cost and quality,” he added.
Kazuyoshi Yokoyama, group head of infrastructure at DLTX stated that the horizontal deployment of the Ansible platform has enhanced overall corporate efficiency with the tools, developed for use across numerous employees at six different departments.
“This initiative has sparked active discussions on improvements and proposals using the platform within our infrastructure-related departments,” he added.
Dai-ichi Life said it plans to expand automation to its cloud environment and enhance the entire system lifecycle, including automation and security measures.
