If you follow the People’s Action Party TikTok, you might have noticed their recent post, which featured a set of very demure, very mindful phone wallpapers.
The wallpapers saw politicians edited onto various images, like Minister for Education Chan Chun Sing chilling in a classroom, Minister for Culture, Community and Youth Edwin Tong sitting on Taylor Swift’s piano at a concert, and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong perched on a lamppost with an MRT train in the background.
Some of these free-to-download wallpapers even include motivational phrases like “You are doing great” and “Believe in yourself”.
Though we don’t know who would want these wallpapers on their phone unironically, we have to give props to the PAP social media team for hopping on the popular Gen Z trend… which usually features photos of cute idols and breathtaking landscapes.
Netizens found the wallpapers really funny.
“If they really want youth votes they should pose with Labubu,” wrote one netizen on Reddit, while another wrote, in all caps, “WHAT IS GOING ON AT HEADQUARTERS”.
Others were cheekier with their comments, with a handful asking for a wallpaper featuring “Iswaran lepaking in prison”.
Too soon to make that joke, guys.
