It’s only been two weeks since Taiwanese actress Joe Chen, 45, and her husband, Johor-born artist Alan Chen, 36, held their Langkawi wedding and it seems like the question on everyone’s mind is: When is the couple starting a family?
Joe recently engaged with followers in a Q&A session on Instagram Stories and she revealed that that was among the kaypoh questions she received.
Joe expressed disbelief, saying that a lot of people are concerned about her baby plans.
“Is it really that important whether a woman has children or not?” she asked.
She stressed that the choice to have children should be a personal one, and that people should respect each individual’s wishes.
“If you like them, you go have them. If you don’t, then don’t. Is it that difficult?” she said.
Joe admitted that she lacks the patience to be around kids.
Furthermore, she is not young anymore and there are certain risks associated with having children at this stage in life.
“Having a child at this age is dangerous,” she said.
Erm, guess that’s a no?
Joe also shared her views on long-distance relationships, saying they are not difficult for her as she is someone who really needs personal space and freedom in her working style.
In fact, “being together every day would be too much,” she said.
She added that it may not be for everyone, so people should be clear about what they are looking for in a relationship.
Joe and Alan met on the second season of Chinese reality show Meeting Mr Right in 2019.
They dated long distance for about a year before Alan relocated to Taiwan in 2021 to be with Joe.
The couple registered their marriage in April 2022.
