A-Lin’s Rise to Stardom: The “Born Diva” of Mandopop

A-Lin, born Lisang Pacidal Koyouan, has been a dominant force in the Mandarin-speaking music scene since her debut in 2006. Of Amis descent, she was born on 20 September 1983 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

Her powerful voice quickly earned her the nickname “A Born Diva”, solidifying her status as one of Mandopop’s most revered singers.

A-Lin’s career breakthrough came when she was discovered at just 16 years old, teaching children to sing Amazing Grace after the 1999 Jiji earthquake in Nantou County.

Since then, she has achieved international fame, performing sold-out shows worldwide. Her participation in the 2015 season of I Am a Singer further expanded her fanbase, showcasing her talents to a broader audience.

A-Lin’s sound has often been compared to that of another iconic Taiwanese singer, A-Mei, who has influenced her style. Over the years, A-Lin has won numerous awards and continues to release chart-topping songs, making her a staple in the music industry.

A-Lin married Taiwanese baseball player Huang Kan-lin on 1 July 2007, and together they have a daughter, Huang Qiaoyu. Music runs in the family, with her parents being Roman Catholics who share a love for music, and her older sister, Luji Huang, pursuing a career in entertainment.
