Tony Leung Gets Rained On Despite 5 People Holding Umbrellas For Him

Oh, how we wish we were as lucky as this Tony Leung fan.

Last week, a netizen ran into the Hong Kong star on the streets of Tokyo, so naturally she had to flex about her encounter with the actor on social media.

Tony, 62, was there for the 37th Tokyo International Film Festival, in which he served as the president of the event’s competition jury.

In the video posted by the netizen on Xiaohongshu, Tony could be seen walking while his surrounding entourage held umbrellas to shelter him from the drizzle.

“On a small street in Ginza, a group of people were walking towards me, holding an umbrella for someone. I thought to myself what a grand scene, then I looked and saw that it was Tony Leung!” she gushed.

Not only did she get up close with Tony, who was only a metre away, he also made eye contact with her friend.

“Later, when we went back to check, they had already entered a BBQ restaurant. The chances of meeting a celebrity in Japan are so high!” she said excitedly.

While some users were envious of the fan, many were tickled by the “grand scene” and likened Tony to the prime minister on his day out.

Some joked that despite so many people holding umbrellas for Tony, none actually covered him properly.

There were comments like “Five umbrellas, but Mr Leung still got rained on” and “It feels like the edges of the umbrellas are just perfect to let the water drip on his head”.

Hur hur. We can’t say we disagree.

Another user also pointed out that this situation was not helping Tony, who famously suffers from social anxiety: “With so people holding umbrellas for him, it’s hard not to attract attention from passers-by.”
