Naomi Neo’s Japanese Restaurant In Telok Ayer Was Broken Into, Her IG Followers Thought It Was “An Act” Until She Showed Proof

Local influencer and content creator Naomi Neo was treated to a rude shock when she learned that her Japanese restaurant Shinrai had been burgled and some $3,400 cash stolen on Tuesday night (Dec 3).

Naomi, 28, shared about the break-in with her followers on Instagram Stories, posting CCTV footage of the burglary.

In the video, a man dressed in a hoodie could be seen opening the cash register and helping himself to the cash.

She noted that the guy had gloves on.

Apparently due to her penchant for creating skits and pranks, some of Naomi’s followers thought it was “an act”.

In response, she posted pics of a damaged doorknob and cash register being wiped of $100 bills, with the caption: “Wish this was actually a joke.”

She also shared CCTV images of the police conducting investigations in the Telok Ayer restaurant.

“Hope this clears any doubt,” she wrote.

In statement by the police on Dec 5, it confirmed officers were alerted to the case of housebreaking and theft at around 10.20pm on Dec 3.

They were able to identify the suspect through CCTV and police camera images, and a 23-year-old man was arrested the next day.

Cash amounting to $2,400 was also recovered.

The man will be charged in court on Dec 6 with the offence of housebreaking and theft.

If convicted, he will face a jail term of up to 10 years and a fine.
