Ex TVB Actor Matthew Ko Defends Wife From Nasty Rumours After She Was Revealed To Be A Divorcee With Kids

Earlier this week, former TVB actor Matthew Ko surprised fans when he announced on Instagram that he is not only married, but he and his wife are expecting their first child.

Sharing pics from their maternity photoshoot, the 40-year-old wrote: “From meeting and getting to know each other, to holding hands and getting married. As I reflect on 2024 this December, I want to share our plans with you without inviting unnecessary speculation. A woman’s contributions are never easy, and I will do everything in my power to protect my family.”

Matthew’s wife is 10 years younger than him and not from showbiz.

According to reports, the couple dated for about a year before registering their marriage in Canada earlier this year. They will welcome their baby girl in January.

While many friends and fans congratulated the couple, some netizens criticised his wife’s appearance, comparing her to Miss Hong Kong 2007 Kayi Cheung, who has been called the “least beautiful Miss Hong Kong ever”.

There were also speculations that the newly-minted Mrs Ko is a wealthy Chinese businesswoman and a divorcee with kids.

Addressing these rumours, Matthew said he is fully aware of his wife’s past.

He said she got married at the age of 20. She and her ex have two children and they divorced two years ago.

Since then, she has been financially independent, running her own Chinese medicine beauty clinic.

He stressed that his wife is not a public figure and should not be subjected to unnecessary attacks.

He expressed his commitment to doing everything he can to protect his wife and their soon-to-be-born daughter.

Matthew, who got his start in showbiz after winning the inaugural Mr Hong Kong pageant in 2005, was previously romantically linked to several actresses, including Christine Kuo, Kate Tsui, and Fala Chen, but he never publicly acknowledged any of these relationships.
