William So Sings ‘Men Shouldn’t Make Women Cry’ At Son’s Primary School Event, Song Choice Puzzles Internet

Education plays a crucial role in a kid’s development and many parents would not hesitate to get involved in their children’s schools.

Some do volunteer work, while others perform at school events, like Hong Kong singer-actor William So, 57.

Last week, a netizen shared a Xiaohongshu video of the star at his seven-year-old son Jazz’s school’s family day.

Jazz, who is in primary two, attends the prestigious St Stephen’s College Preparatory School, where the annual tuition is close to HK$100,000 (S$17.3K).

In the video, William, who was a guest performer at the event, could be seen singing his 1995 hit Mandarin ballad ‘Men Shouldn’t Make Women Cry’ on stage.

If you’re thinking that’s an unusual choice of song, you’re not alone.

The video quickly sparked discussions online, with many questioning if it was an appropriate song to sing at a school function.

There were others who jokingly remarked that “it’s actually educational”.

“Men shouldn’t make women cry is this something we need to teach boys from a young age?” asked one netizen, while another commented that “It should be included in music textbooks.

Hur hur.

This is not the first time a celeb has performed an “unsuitable” song at a school function.

Last year, netizens were left scratching their heads after Ronald Cheng, whose daughter Emma, now 13, also attends the same school, sang ‘Rascal’.
