They say children are the most honest but this teacher in Taiwan probably wishes her students can be, well, a tad less frank.
Recently, Taiwanese teacher Jamie shared on Threads a video she had taken while teaching English to what sounds like a class of primary school students.
Suddenly, someone asks if she has a boyfriend.
When Jamie shakes her head, another student asks in Mandarin: “Then do you have a girlfriend?”
Jamie again replies no but this time one student mercilessly shouts across the room: “So you’re all alone! You have to sleep alone, play video games alone and watch TV alone?”
A visibly embarrassed Jamie then says, “Yes…”
A few students then walk to the front of the classroom and start hugging Jamie’s legs.
“So poor thing,” one student said while another yelled from the back of the class: “Why don’t you marry a man and have babies?”
The teacher finally couldn’t take it anymore and tells her class to quiet down.
“Guys, I don’t want [to be in a relationship]. I’m happy alone!” she says in English.
Her students didn’t buy it though.
“You’re very unhappy because you’re all alone!” shouted one student.
Just as Jamie gives up explaining herself and turns her back to the students, someone could be heard saying, “Then we’ll accompany you!”
Nice save.
