Cute 3-Yr-Old Girl In Sarong Kebaya On SQ Flight A Hit With The Crew, Fellow Travelers

Imagine boarding a flight and meeting the crew’s shortest stewardess.

We jest.

It’s just three-year-old Sophie Eman wearing the iconic sarong kebaya on a Singapore Airlines flight from Melbourne to Singapore.

In a video posted to Instagram, the toddler is seen boarding the flight with two soft toys before being surrounded by the air stewardesses.

As the clip unfolds, several SQ Girls gathered around Sophie, eager to snap a picture with her.

At one point, one of the crew members attached a name tag with Sophie’s name, while another styled her hair into a French twist.

Who knew the Singapore Airlines crew were such great babysitters?

In an interview with 8days.sg, Sophie’s parents, Erika Lau, 35, and Naem Rohman, 40, explained that they bought the kid-sized sarong kebaya for under $35 at Mustafa Centre.

They had been thinking of ways to keep Sophie entertained during her first long-haul flight, which lasted around seven-and-a-half hours.

According to Erika, Sophie is more sensitive to sensory stimuli like loud sounds and turbulence.

“We did airport visits, read books about airplanes, traveling, and the different jobs at the airport and on planes,” said Erika.

“When we saw how much she loved acting out different roles on the plane, we thought wearing the uniform on board would be a fun and engaging way to keep her occupied,” she added.

All that planning seems to have paid off and according to Naem, “Sophie was thrilled to see the crew dressed like her.”

He also added that the flight crew frequently engaged with Sophie and her five-year-old brother, Karem.

Of course, Sophie’s outfit caught the attention of fellow passengers, some of whom pretended to ask the toddler for help as if she were a member of the crew.

It seems Sophie enjoyed the experience so much that Erika shared she’s now asking if she can try out other uniformed roles.

So does Sophie want to don the sarong kebaya again?

“Perhaps if we can save up for another family holiday,” she laughs.

“For now, she seems happy with her unicorn pajamas and the occasional superhero suit to play with her brother,” adds Erika.

Who knows, maybe Sophie will become a SQ Girl in the future?
