In a video posted to Instagram, a woman recently shared about the latest advancements in AI technology.
She demonstrates how AI can make her appear to speak even with her lips taped shut.
To prove her point, she is seen taping her lips and recording herself, simply moving her head.
“I am going to show you how disgusting this is,” she says.
She then uploads the video to an AI program, requests it to generate a script, and pairs it with the clip.
In just two minutes, the program creates a near-perfect version of the woman speaking, even mimicking her facial movements.
Previously, deepfakes were still identifiable with the unnatural way the mouth moves. However, none of that was seen here.
The woman again pointed out that her mouth was still tapped, and yet AI-rendered video looked uncannily natural.
And it is not just one’s native language that AI is able to mimic.
The woman demonstrated the AI’s ability to make her seem like she speaks fluent Bahasa Indonesia in her own voice though she had never spoken the language before.
She then went on to show another live streamer using the same technology.
In the video, he is seen not speaking a word while showing off a pink jacket on one side, while another saw him speaking in synch with his video.
Will this be how live streamers hawk items in the future?
Netizens were floored by what they saw with many expressing concerns about how many more people will be deceived.
With this, won’t kidnappers now have no need for their victims to ask for ransoms and have AI just do all the work?
Others were seen curiously asking for the exact AI app used.
Some seem less startled with one joking, “Can I now make my crush say she loves me?”
