It seems a certain Philippine athlete has captured the hearts of Chinese sports fans at the 2025 Asian Winter Games in Harbin, China.
17-year-old short track speedskater Peter Groseclose had many gawking over his good looks during the opening ceremony, during which he led the Philippines delegation as a flag bearer with fellow athlete Kathleen Dubberstein last Friday (Feb 7).
Born in the United States, Peter has been speedskating since the age of seven.
Peter’s charming looks has quickly gone viral, with more than 6.9 million users on Weibo discussing his good looks.
In an interview, Peter shyly expressed how flattered he was by the attention, saying he was surprised by the number of people who thought he was handsome.
“I knew he would attract our attention. He is really cute, sunny, and handsome,” read a comment.
Some have even gone as far as to claim that Peter looks like popular Chinese table tennis player and Olympic champ Fan Zhendong.
Umm… The two athletes look very different from each other.
While Peter won’t be leaving the games with a medal – he didn’t qualify for the finals in any of his events – we foresee his current popularity might just bag him a few million more fans.
