Is it just us or is Malaysian singer Fish Leong’s current concert tour cursed?
Since her controversial performance of ‘Swallowtail Butterfly’, and complaints of uncomfortable concert venues, it seems the 45-year-old star can’t seem to catch a break while performing in China.
This time, it was reported that Fish’s concert organiser, Shanghai Rubik’s Cube Pan-Cultural Performing Arts Co. Ltd was sued by nine fans who said they were not informed that the seats they bought came with partially blocked views.
The affected concertgoers posted pictures of their experience on social media to air their grievances and only decided to take the matter to court only after they were offered 200 yuan (S$37) gift cards.
The case was heard in Shanghai last Wednesday (Nov 15) with the plaintiff requesting the court to order the defendant to refund the tickets of 1,299 yuan (S$241) and 17,140 yuan (S$3,187) in damages as they had cheated consumers and violated their right to know about the restricted view.
Also, the plaintiff further questioned why they were not offered refunds or seat changes, unlike audiences in other cities.
Shanghai Rubik’s Cube Pan-Cultural Performing Arts Co. Ltd defended themselves saying that the concertgoers could not prove that their restricted view affected their viewing experience, and that sight alone won’t affect the entire experience.
The concert organiser also told the judge that they never advertised that the venue had no pillars, nor did they need to ensure that views were unblocked, but out of goodwill, had already taken necessary action to placate the plaintiff.
Honestly, we think it perfectly normal to feel frustrated if no one informed us that we would be attending a concert with pillars in front of us.
