Korean Star Won Bin Attends Kim Sae Ron’s Wake, After Keeping A Low Profile For Years

For many, it’s difficult to come to terms with the fact that Korean actress Kim Sae Ron is gone.

Once known as “Korea’s most beautiful child star”, Sae Ron was found dead in her home on February 16. She was 24.

Her funeral will take place on February 19.

Yesterday (Feb 17), friends and co-stars turned up at Seoul Asan Medical Center Funeral Hall to pay respects to the late star.

Among them were actresses Han So Hee, Kim Bo Ra and heartthrob Won Bin.

Dressed in a black suit and turtleneck, Won Bin, 47, who has rarely appeared in public in recent years, looked distraught.

The actor was seen wiping away tears with his sleeve and tissue while talking with acquaintances.

He greeted the bereaved family and had a simple meal before leaving half an hour later.

He also sent a wreath along with his wife, actress Lee Na Young.

Won Bin reportedly shared a close bond with Sae Ron.

In 2010, he co-starred with the then 10-year-old Sae Ron in thriller The Man from Nowhere, a touching story of mutual salvation that brought audiences to tears.

The film was the highest-grossing movie in South Korea that year, and Won Bin won the Grand Bell Award for Best Actor for his performance, while Sae Ron was named Best New Actress at the Korean Film Awards.

He has since been on a hiatus, only making occasional appearances in commercials.

His wife once explained that Won Bin is waiting to be cast in projects that speak to his artistic sensibilities rather than film something that was made to be a commercial success.
