Li would go on to visit the girl daily, bringing her breakfast and taking care of her until nighttime.
He revealed he did so because he did not want his parents to worry about him. He had been in five traffic accidents over the past two months and had just finished compensating the victims.
During his visits, he would chat with the girl and have heart-to-heart talks. He found out she lived in a different neighbourhood, had just graduated from university, and was working at a bubble tea shop because she liked drinking bubble tea.
After spending time together for half a month, Li received an unexpected text from the girl.
She confessed her feelings for him in the long message, saying that though they hadn’t known each other for very long, she was moved by the comfort and support he gave her during and after her surgery.
Li did not reply to the message as he did not feel the same. He spoke to the girl, explaining that he’s a lot older than she is, and even if he agreed to date her, her parents might be against it.
The girl said she simply wanted to make her feelings known, and that she was in charge of making her own decisions.
Following the confession, Li tried to distance himself from the girl, taking longer periods to reply to her texts. However, after thinking about it, he realised “it wouldn’t be good of him” to do that.
“I was the one who knocked her over, and I have to take full responsibility,” he added.
After the girl was discharged, Li took her to the movies upon her request.
Li gradually fell for the girl as they continued to hang out, and they began to date officially.
Last September, after finding out that his girlfriend was pregnant, Li immediately planned for a wedding. The couple finally tied the knot earlier this month on February 6 in Li’s hometown.
Many neighbouring residents turned up for the wedding, with one remarking: “This is quite a magical union.”
Li and his wife’s story has gotten plenty of attention online. Netizens were amazed at the circumstances in which they met, with many sending the couple their blessings.
Laughing, Li added that he’s “very thankful” to have met his wife. He was involved in five accidents before hitting her, but since knowing her, he “hasn’t had even one small scratch”.
Sometimes, fate really works in funny ways, doesn’t it?
