It’s no secret that Chinese actor Dylan Wang, 26, is an ardent fan of NBA legend, LeBron James.
However, Dylan’s recent interaction with the basketball star — or rather, the lack thereof — has got netizens cringing with second-hand embarrassment.
Dylan, who made his showbiz debut in 2017, is known for his roles in Meteor Garden (2018) and Love Between Fairy and Devil (2022). Thanks to his cheerful and witty personality, he is one of China’s most in-demand stars at the moment.
So it did not come as a surprise that the basketball fan himself was invited to be part of the 2025 NBA All-Star Celebrity Game at the Oakland Arena in California on Feb 15. This is the second year in a row that he’s been part of the celebrity match.
“If I get to meet LeBron again this year, I want to take another photo with him. It’s been a year since I changed my phone wallpaper to the photo we took at [last year’s game],” Dylan said excitedly at a pre-game red carpet interview.
Sadly, things didn’t go as Dylan wished, even though he did bump into LeBron that day.
Dylan was spotted desperately seeking his idol’s attention to no avail. In the now-viral clip, he was seen getting blocked off from LeBron by security. He also tried waving at the NBA star in an attempt to ask him for a pic, but was completely ignored. In fact, LeBron did not appear to recognise him at all.
