It’s known that wild roosters can be easily found roaming free in many areas of Singapore. Generally, they tend to do their own thing, keeping a fair distance from humans, probably more for their own safety than ours.
But did you know that two roosters are seldom seen in proximity of each other? There’s a good reason for that, and a Xiaohongshu user almost had to learn that the hard way.
Earlier this month, she was at the Merlion Park, opposite the road from Fullerton Hotel, when she encountered two roosters chasing each other.
They sped through a grass patch and were barreling straight into the netizen’s path.
Distracted by the sight, she did not move out of the way and continued filming… only for the rooster that was being chased to fly directly at her.
According to her, she was “almost attacked” — with an emphasis on almost.
The encounter left her slightly flustered, but she continued to film even as the roosters continued with their chase.
They ran towards her at least two other times, but by now, she was prepared and used her umbrella as a shield.
Here’s the thing — roosters typically have a pecking order, and are seldom seen in the same area as they can get very territorial and aggressive towards each other. They sometimes fight over mates as well.
Basically, you don’t want to be near that fight.
In response to the netizen’s video, one commenter remarked that the roosters may have thought the woman was a tree as she was not moving out of the way, while another joked they “will not be visiting Singapore if it’s so dangerous”.
Others were super tickled by the video, with some saying she had “caught a genuinely priceless scene”.
