Mayday Shuts Down Lip-Sync Accusations At Paris Concert, Ashin Sings Live For 3 Hours

Earlier this week, it was reported that Mayday is being investigated by Chinese authorities for lip-syncing after a blogger claimed voice separation analysis showed there was a mix of live singing and lip-syncing at their Shanghai shows.

Lip-syncing before a paid audience is prohibited in China as it is considered “deceptive”.

According to a Beijing lawyer, if it is proven that the band had lip-synced, they could face a “lifetime ban” in China.

Responding to allegations, Mayday’s agency B’in Music said the band does not lip-sync in their concerts and that they are cooperating with the investigation.

It also offered to live stream the band’s Paris concert so everyone could judge for themselves.

Ashin also addressed accusations on social media, saying “Every roar, every performance, every note, they all come from the voice that I have relied on for 24 years. Other than real-singing, there is no other way to move you.”
