’90s Mediacorp Drama Shiver Seemingly Predicted MRT Stations Tai Seng, Bras Basah & Havelock Years Before They Were Built

Ask any Singaporean growing up in the late ‘90s’ and early ‘00s’ and they will be able to rattle off Mediacorp English shows such as Growing Up and Under One Roof with ease.

But not many will remember that in 1997, there was also Shiver, our first fantasy-slash-horror English series, a show that was described as a dramatised and less scary version of horror anthology Incredible Tales.

Recently, a netizen claimed that one of its episodes, titled ‘The Last Train’, had seemingly predicted a number of MRT train stations that exist today in 2023.

Mind you, back in 1997, Tai Seng, Bras Basah, and Havelock MRT Stations were years from being completed.

Tai Seng MRT Station was completed in 2007. Bras Basah MRT Station was announced in 1999 and completed in 2010 and Havelock MRT Station was announced in 2012 and completed in 2022.

The same sharp-eyed netizen also pointed out that Serangoon MRT Station, the construction of which was announced in 1996, was creatively spelled as Seran-goon.
