Jam Hsiao, 36, On Age Gap With Wife Summer Lin, 50: “I Blame Her For Being Born Too Early ‘Cos She Had To Wait For Me For A Long Time”

Last October, Taiwanese singer Jam Hsiao, 36, tied the knot with his long-time manager, Summer Lin, 50. The couple dated for 16 years, but had chosen to keep their relationship secret despite being romantically linked on numerous occasions.

During their recent interview with Taiwanese media Yit (一条), Summer revealed the primary reason for keeping their relationship under wraps.

“First of all, I’m his manager. Secondly, I’m older than him. He always says, “In the past, it was you taking care of me. When [we] get old, I’ll take care of you”.”

Jam, on the other hand, never felt their 14-year age gap was an issue. According to him, while Summer can be very serious and mature, she has a cute and childish side at home.

“I blame her for being born too early ‘cos she had to wait for me for a long time,” he said with a smile.

As fate would have it, Jam fell in love with Summer during their very first meeting.

“There was a time when we communicated completely via messages. We didn’t talk about love or anything of that sort, but I believe in love at first sight. She wanted me to get to know more people ‘cos she was worried that I was acting on impulse. But I was very sure about it. I wished to confirm our relationship before she turned 50, so I chose to propose to her on [June] 26th, because her birthday is on the 27th,” recalled Jam.

The couple said they find joy in doing simple every day things together.

“Our life is extremely simple. When we are not working, we would go listen to jazz music, enjoy food, and exercise together. Age is never a problem,” said Jam.

Summer also added: “We both place huge importance in taking care of ourselves so that we don’t become each other’s burden.”
