Who Knew Using Henry Thia’s Face Would Be The Best Way To Get Scammers Off Your Back?

We all know how annoying it is when we get added into dubious group chats by incessant scammers.

Now it seems like local singer Nathan Hartono has found the way to get these scammers to removed him from the group chats.

And all he needed was local veteran comedian Henry Thia’s face.

Yesterday (Jan 28), the 32-year-old SingChina 2016 first runner-up shared on his Instagram that he was added to a suspicious group chat that was assumably impersonating as multinational online travel agency Trip.com.

Instead of immediately reporting and leaving the chat like most people usually would, Nathan decided to entertain those scammers by spamming them with stickers of the 71-year-old actor.

First, Nathan sent a sticker of Henry rocking a signature blonde “ah beng” side fringe.

Then, it was one of Henry in army uniform and helmet, followed by one of him grinning innocently at the camera.

Last but not least, Nathan gifted the scammers with — and this is our favourite — Henry in gothic make-up.

Though Nathan didn’t showcase all the stickers from his collection, it appears that he had sent a grand total of 11 stickers to the chat.

The scammer, who was someone named Avina, didn’t seem to appreciate those stickers as much as we did.

Not only did she delete every single message Nathan sent, she even changed the group’s setting to “allow only admins to send messages to [the] group”.

She then decided that Nathan was no easy prey, and removed him from the chat entirely.

So all Nathan was left with was this cold, hard message: “You can’t send messages to this group because you’re no longer a member.”

Alamak, looks like Avina really can’t take jokes.
