But it seems the team is satisfied with the outcome and said the AI-produced vocals were 80 per cent like Queenzy’s.
Even Guowen, who worked on music for the late singer, said the AI-generated voice sounded “too much like Queenzy” and he broke down while listening to it in the recording studio.
Songwriter Leow Yee Xing said that before composing the melody and lyrics, she already envisioned the late singer performing the song, and hopes the use of technology would convey the festive blessings to everyone.
Kiang HY, who directed the video, shared that Queenzy had discussed with him the direction of the music video before her sudden passing and said it was her idea to present segments of her life that have never been seen on social media.
After the music video debuted on YouTube, many netizens left comments on how much they missed Queenzy.
However, a couple of fans shared their mixed feelings about the song saying how they found it creepy.
“It’s a good song though I don’t know how to feel about it. It feels weird that she isn’t around this Lunar New Year, but we are hearing a voice that isn’t hers,” wrote a user.
However, some felt the production team did a good job and praised them for their efforts.
“Although AI helped create this song, I am grateful we can still hear Queenzy’s voice. Big applause to the music producers for doing this,” wrote a netizen.
