Brother Of Aloysius Pang Writes Book In His Memory, Says There’s No One To Give His Books To Since His Passing

Has it already been five years since the tragic passing of local actor Aloysius Pang?

The 28-year-old died on January  24, 2019, of a severe infection from serious chest and abdominal injuries sustained during military training in New Zealand.

In remembrance of Aloysius, his older brother Jefferson Pang, who works in a bank, wrote a book titled ‘What I’d Give To Say Once More’ on Jan 15 this year.

The 120-pager is dedicated to Aloysius with two chapters mentioning the late actor.

The self-help publication also looks to aid readers in tapping into their potential while prioritising one’s needs and wants for a more fulfilling life.

During an interview, Jefferson was asked the reason behind the book, and he started by sharing an experience about Aloysius.

Saying the late actor’s room was always messy and in addition to a computer and keyboard in front of his bed, was a row of books.

“80 percent of the books were mine that I had passed on to him. It cultivated the habit of reading in him since he was a kid. After he passed on, there was no one to give my books to,” Jefferson said.

He also mused about how many people are forgotten after their passing.

Jefferson said that those who had attended Aloysius’s funeral surmised that he is now an angel, “but he did not do anything great or respectable in this world” for people to remember him by.

“To be remembered for generations, we must teach the world something,” said Jefferson on how the idea of the book came about.

He also said Aloysius’ fans should be in their 20s now and thus the book is written for those in the 20-40 age bracket.

In developing the book’s contents, Jefferson reached out to Aloy’s pals Xu Bin and Zong Zijie to better understand the life his brother led as an artiste.
