For those who have yet to see Dune Part One (what are you waiting for?), the Fremen is a group of desert dwellers, whose eyes have turned a piercing blue due to their prolonged exposure to spice, a substance that plays a key role in the film.
To bring the necklace to life, Chalamet met with Marie-Laure Cerede, Cartier’s creative director of jewellery and watchmaking, in the maison’s Parisian ateliers. He shared his inspiration, the aesthetic of the Dune film, along with archival references and exclusive film stills, Cartier said in a press release.
This is the second such creation that Cartier has realised for Chalamet. The first creation was a candy-inspired necklace worn by the actor for the premiere of Wonka, created with 946 emeralds, rubellites, pink tourmalines and blue opals.
