Veteran HK Actress Angelina Lo Scoffs That Anyone Can Be An Actor Now; Says One Junior Even Tried To Teach Her How To Act

If you’re a fan of Hong Kong dramas, you would be familiar with veteran actress Angelina Lo, who’s TVB’s “go-to” mum or grandma.

The 70-year-old star, who has been in the industry since 1975, claims to have played mum to the most number of artistes — more than 70, if you’re wondering — in dramas and even tried applying to the Guinness World Records for the title.

Having worked with so many young actors, it’s not surprising that Angelina has developed a good understanding of how the current generation is like.

Recently, the actress went on Hong Kong producer Gary Yeung’s YouTube programme Xiao Hong Chui Shui Zhan where she shared her sentiments about her juniors in showbiz.

When Gary commented that it’s distasteful how “some TVB actors are still acting as young lads when they’re in their 40s and 50s”, Angelina couldn’t help but agree.

“Back then we had drama master Ah King [aka veteran TVB actor Chung King-Fai] teaching us how to act and we all learnt a lot from him. But that’s not the case anymore,” she lamented.

“Now contestants from Sing! China are going into acting, those who merely appeared in commercials are suddenly becoming actors too. Even the Mr and Miss Hong Kong-s are getting casted in dramas. These days [they] really make you want to ‘scratch [your] head!’,” she laughed.

As if that wasn’t infuriating enough, one younger actor even tried to give Angelina acting advice.

“He told me: ‘You should have said this line like that’ and I couldn’t believe he said that. I immediately replied: ‘Huh?’ and looked at him without responding. I then continued to do my thing and didn’t care about what he said,” she scoffed.

The audacity, right?
