Star Awards Best Audio Personality Nominee Chen Ning Says Her Chances Of Winning Are “Close To 0”

One of the new awards at this year’s Star Awards is Best Audio Personality, which honours local radio DJs.

The jocks who are vying for this award are: The DAKA Show’s Chen Ning, The Breakfast Quintet’s Dennis Chew, The Shuang and Kunz Show’s Hazelle Teo , Double-O-7‘s Lim Leng Kee as well as KUNZversations’ Zhong Kunhua.

In an interview with Chinese media 8world, YES 933 DJ Chen Ning, who snagged her first Top 10 Most Popular Female Artiste Award last year, shared that she had mixed feelings when she received news of her nomination.

The 31-year-old didn’t think she had any eligible projects as her podcasts were all short-form, so she didn’t submit any of her work for the category.

It was only on the day of the submission deadline that she was told she could enter The DAKA Show, which she co-hosts with Gao Mei Gui and Jeff Goh.

It’s why she finds her nomination “unbelievable”.

Chen Ning took the opportunity to express her gratitude towards her co-hosts.

“I can’t take sole credit for the nomination. It’s [all thanks to] the chemistry between the three of us,” she said, adding that she’s “feeling the pressure” as she’s now representing the trio for the award.

So what does she think are her odds of winning?

“Close to zero!” she said with a laugh.

“But since I’m nominated, let me just say it’s 0.1 per cent!”

She has good reason for her low expectations.

The DAKA Show is a group project and it would be hard to assess her hosting abilities based on the four-hour programme, she explained.

Nevertheless, Chen Ning is very happy to have received a nod from the judges.

“To be nominated is a form of recognition on its own. I’m thankful for this opportunity because being nominated is already something worth celebrating,” she gushed.
