Bird lovers, if this woman’s experience doesn’t convince you to make a trip to Bird Paradise, we don’t know what will.
“Who was bombarded with love from the Loriini [parrots] at Singapore’s Bird Paradise! Yes, it’s me! I’m the luckiest tourist!” she shared on Xiaohongshu about her recent trip to Bird Paradise, which has several walk-through aviaries.
She posted photos of a flock of about six parrots, just chilling on her shoulders and head. A pair that was perched on her shoulder even started pecking at each other as if they were right at home.
The self-professed animal lover, who has a pet bird of her own, “couldn’t resist” the attention she got from her new feathered friends.
For someone whose Bird Paradise visit didn’t have the most smooth-sailing start, this was quite the turn of events.
The tourist shared that she did not manage to book a slot for the bird feeding session that day. She also realised badges for February were sold out upon her arrival. On top of all that, it happened to be a rainy day, leading her to believe her trip would “end with many regrets”.
However, the wet weather turned out to be the best thing that could have happened to her.
The birds were trying to take shelter from the rain too, and were still “super lively”.
“Even though I got drenched, this is still a bird lover’s haven,” said the woman, who spent about five hours there.
Netizens were amazed by her up close encounter with the birds, with some wondering how she managed to get them to land on her.
Replying to comments, the woman said that parrots generally love being close to humans, and are probably curious too.
“I stayed in the area where there were more parrots for 10 minutes. I was actually looking at two little fellas for a bit, and the others started climbing onto me. Around six or seven flew to me. However, you must be careful because their bites can hurt. As for me, I’m already used to being bitten by my pet bird,” she explained.
“Are you Snow White?” joked one netizen.
Besides the parrots, the woman also saw macaws, cockatoos, penguins, and hornbills, among a variety of other species.
To top off “the happiest day” she’s had, she mentioned that the food she had at Bird Paradise was yummy as well.
We think she should totally add “bird whisperer”— or “Bird Paradise ambassador” — to her bio now.
