What better way to promote a film than to catch people’s attention along Orchard Road, right?
Local actress Jae Liew, 34, and Mainland Chinese restaurant owner-turned-‘human robot’ Ms Qin, 26, were captured by popular street photographer Sky aka @orchardroadfashion when they took to the shopping district to reprise their roles as AI robots in Jack Neo’s Chinese New Year film I Want To Be A Boss.
The film stars Henry Thia as a man who buys an AI robot to solve problems in his life.
Both Jae and Ms Qin were seen clad in black while acting out robotic movements as they mingled with passersby outside Mandarin Gallery.
While onlookers were mostly amused, with many whipping out their phones to take pictures with Jae and Ms Qin, some youngsters were spotted trying to avoid the “robots” approaching them.
Looks like not everyone is ready for AI yet.
While Jae is a familiar face on local dramas such as Tanglin and 128 Circle, Ms Qin first went viral last year for her robot-like appearance and robotic movements while serving customers at her hotpot restaurant in Chongqing, China.
She was last seen at the fan meet and the movie’s premiere at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. We wonder if there is another ‘AI robot’ tending to her business back home.
