Slowly but surely, Angelababy is making her comeback.
The 35-year-old Chinese actress attended the 42nd Hong Kong Film Awards (HKFA) as a presenter and appeared on stage with Hong Kong actor-director Stephen Fung.
She was said to have flouted artiste morality guidelines in China for allegedly watching Blackpink Lisa’s Crazy Horse Paris performance last October. Rumours swirled that she and her work would be boycotted, and true enough, the once prolific star went MIA on screen.
Though she made an appearance in February at the British Academy of Film and Television Awards (BAFTA), Angelababy has not been seen at Chinese events or shows till now.
Dressed in a black Vikor and Rolf Couture outfit, Angelababy with Stephen announced the Taiwanese film, The Pig, The Snake, And The Pigeon as the winner for Best Asian Chinese Language Film.
On stage, Angelababy spoke fluent Cantonese, bantering comfortably with Stephen while also comfortably interacting with members of the audience.
Though she’s known as one of the most popular stars in China, she got her start in Hong Kong where she scored a modelling contract at only 14.
She also flaunted her command of Cantonese while being interviewed on the red carpet.
When asked which film she liked, Angelababy cheekily responded, “We are all good friends, it depends on which one I want to offend.”
She later revealed that she had watched all of them and thought they were done very well.
Pictures of Angelababy from the event soon trended on Weibo, with many netizens praising her glamourous look.
