Annie Yi, Harlem Yu’s 22-Year-Old Son On Why It’s “Not A Bad Thing” His Parents Are Divorced

Having parents who are divorced is definitely not easy for a child.

But for Harrison Yu, the son of Taiwanese stars Annie Yi, 56, and Harlem Yu, their split was actually a blessing in disguise.

In a recent episode of Chinese variety show A Rhapsody Of Cities, the 22-year-old opened up about his relationship with his parents, who split in 2009 after nine years of marriage.

At the time of the divorce, Harrison was only eight.

“After their split, I was constantly moving between two places. I was the busiest,” he recalled.

According to Harrison, he was staying with his dad, now 63, on weekdays and would spend the weekends with his mum.

“I think they both did their best as parents,” he assured.

While others may question if it was “tiring” for him to grow up with divorced parents, Harrison said he actually “liked the way [he] grew up.”

“I think my parents have very different ways of educating their child, but they both left a mark on me,” he explained.

Harrison thinks his mum is more open-minded and supportive of him pursuing the arts, while his dad taught him how to have good manners and be a good person.

“If I only followed one person in my growing up years, a part of me would be missing,” he averred.

“So to be honest, I think them getting a divorce is not a bad thing,” he laughed.
